Ethical issues in organ donation and transplantation research
Following the workshop in November 2010, UKDEC has been working with the National Research Ethics Service, the Human Tissue Authority and the Department of Health to address the barriers identified during the workshop. UKDEC has prepared guidance on consent to research for both donors and recipients. This will be of interest to researchers and those working with both donors and recipients, and research ethics committees considering proposals for research involving these groups.
A summary of the UKDEC recommendations following the workshop, together wth a brief comparison of issues in the UK with international experience, has been accepted for publication in Transplantation journal. The full report can be downloaded below.
