Web-based Physical & Mental Health Resource Centre

Led by the Royal College of Psychiatrists

Following up the Academy’s No Health without Mental Health project by providing a web-based resource centre, with accompanying communications and awareness raising, making evidence and best practice widely available on improving the mental health of those with physical disorders and the physical health of those with mental disorders.

Aim

To improve physical health outcomes for people with mental disorders, and mental health outcomes for people with physical disorders, reduce health inequalities and increase cost-effectiveness of treatments, by increasing effective integration of physical and mental health care in clinical practice and service design.

Objectives

  • Provide clear information and easy, one-stop access to a range of tools, resources and research for use in developing clinical practice and service design.
  • Provide united leadership and demonstrate cross-disciplinary consensus on the importance of integrating physical and mental health care.
  • Strengthen networks of clinicians, commissioners and patients already interested in this agenda to increase their influence and effectiveness.
There are potentially eight other Colleges directly involved in the project.
The project began in February 2011 and the planned completion date is the end of January 2012.
